colours of the season
Well, you haven't had any nature shots from me for a while,so here goes.....The fall colours, in and around the Sault Ste Marie, Ontario area, including Skookum Lake and the Chapleau Highway, are absolutely spectacular! This year I decided to visit my family and try to capture the experience. I had to return home for a wedding, so I actually missed the peak by about a week, but there's always next year. I was more than satisfied with the show! Toronto is a little further behind, so expect more photos in a couple of days.
For Skookum, watch for the absolutely still lake and shots of the dock, the mist and the boathouse.....that's Skookum! The first five photos are Skookum Lake and also the last one.

Love the misty ones!!! We are at peak now... but the local place to see them is closed--- along with the government. OH wait it's because of the government!!!
Beautiful! Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Beth! They're actually my favourites, as well. You should havet seen me scrambling to get dressed and out the door in time to catch the mist rolling away. I don't know why I bothered, because we were the only ones on the lake. Other than the wildlife, of course. I'm certainly glad that the bears that had been spotted at the gravel pit, didn't decide to pay an early morning visit.
Well, hello stranger! Thanks, Diane and turkey day isn't until Monday (well diner is on Sunday). I'm sure that it will be excellent as usual. BTW, how's retirement treating you?
Wonderful pictures! Of course when we took our day trip to places north...guess who didn't even get the camera out of her purse?
Thanks, MA! Don't worry! I took enough photos for both of us.
Glorious to see!
Very beautiful where you are, Anne Marie ...
Christi, thanks and I agree! The colours, of the sugar imaples in particular, are absolutely amazing! Quite different from the gentle golds of the Pacific Northwest. Did I ever tell you that I'm originally from Vancouver, B.C.? Not all that far away from where you live.
So tranquil, so beautiful with the mist, i can see why you love to go there. The colours, the peace, the reflections all magical. But, i want to know why there are dying and dead trees in the water, dead sticks of trees?
Kaite, it is peaceful. The mist adds a dreamy quality and the quiet is absolutely deafening! You can even hear yourself think!
Kaite, i'm not sure what happened to the trees. It could be because of flooding, insect damage or even fire. Those shots were taken off a very scary logging road, so there was no one around to ask. It does make an interesting photo though.
I thought maybe flooding.
