Don't you just love a good deal?

Every once in a while, I get in the mood to visit the local thrift store. This time, I quickly spotted an amazing orange necklace and had to wait patiently while the clerk served another customer. My turn came and I finally had the chance to fondle my treasure. It simply had to be mine! Yes, it was a little more expensive than the others (if $7.99 is expensive), but I needed it! The beads appear to be made out of resin and are absolutely luminous! I plan to deconstruct and then resurrect it into something even more delicious. Imagine, if you will, all of that luminosity, draped gently against a crisp, black linen shirt. Yummm!!!!

The two other necklaces are lovely as well. One is made of stained wood beads in dark blues/purples and the other a navy blue mystery material (but probably glass). Both, welcome additions to my ever growing bead embroidery stash. My final purchase was a crisp, white cotton sheet for painting and monoprinting.

All in all a very successful hunt!

a lovely find, but those orange beads were expensive by Aussie standards of Op shops. Vinnies here would have charged you no more than $3, and maybe $5 from RedCross. they are nice tho and in *my* special colour!! |<.

Tried to comment earlier but something went haywire...so...great finds! I love searching through the thrift stores because you never know what treasures you might come across. Beads are always good!

The hunt is very important!!!! Beads are the best! The funny thing is that I can't always bear to take the necklaces apart. I have several that I purchased for components, but ended up wearing. LOL! BTW, I'm still drooling over the orange beads, Kaite! EYHO!!! And here I thought I had enough of that particular colour in the 60's & 70's!

Sorry, ladies! I love you all, but won't be sharing my orange beads. When I went into the shop, there were all kinds of people milling around the glass case. I was very afraid that someone else would snap them up and not sure what I would have done if someone else had. Snatched them away from them, I expect! Strange reaction to a piece of jewelry! I'm usually a lot more relaxed about things.
