a different perspective

My friend Kaite from Australia just posted a couple photos of the backsides (hee, hee) of her lovely dahlias. So, I explained how much I like to take these types of shots and promised that I would show a few that I took last year. It doesn't hurt to inject a little colour at this dreary time of the year. Enjoy!

Yellow Iris:

Poppy:

Purple Iris:

A different Purple Iris, but from the front this time and cropped:

Weed - Queen Anne's Lace I believe, but don't quote me on it:

oh yes, the backsides of flowers are just as nice as the front sides.
the shot of the yellow iris is interesting, it looks as tall as the sky, you must have been really down and dirty to take that one...k.

Often the back sides have more dimension than the fronts... I love to find a group of flowers, with several fresh, several turned and one or two past peak....

Kaite - not really "down & dirty". They were in a raised bed and I stuck the camera underneath them, pressed the shutter and hoped for the best. I get some of my best shots this way!

Beth - I love to shoot them when they're past they're prime as well. The structures are so interesting.

So nice to see color -- we're still covered with dirty snow and mud. Bleah.

Karen, if you believe, it will come. Of course these photos are from last summer....so we're a ways a way from that here as well.

Welcome to dieadjustormigrate and FlowerLady! I love spring and the signs outside show that it's coming.

truly like these, AM! especially the poppy but I wish it were more lit. I can see it as a watercolor. The yellow iris is cool!

Thanks again, Rachel! I keep trying to get the perfect "lit" poppy shot, but somehow always fall short. This one wasn't actually all that great a photo, but I liked the shape so altered it a bit in PS Elements. If I get a chance, I'll check back on my other poppy shots to see if there's a better one that I could send you. My friend has a nice patch of poppies that grow every year, so early summer is also a possibility.
