bjp 0514 - green and blush

Ohh......I've been a very bad blogger!!! My May Bead Journal, was finished in May, but I just didn't get around to blogging about it.....Enough already, it's time to end procrastination, so tada, introducing my May BJP! I wish that I could say that I buried some deep thoughts or symbolisim in this leaf, but the reality is, that it's a simple celebration of spring! After a long hard winter, our landscape was painted with fresh green and pink, so it's really only fitting, that my leaf be painted with them as well. With the heat of the summer upon us, May seems so very far away. So much so, that this will be a very short post, with the photos doing most of the talking.
Somewhere on the internet, I spotted a small collection of stones, that had been covered with beaded netting. I liked them so much, that I decided to add one to my leaf. The ceramic cabochon, came from Tucon, via Stephanie, The Dixon Chick. A teeny little embellishment from Kaite in Australia, three vintage pearls from Sue in AZ (who sent me a generous, goodie package), a family button box find, a plastic toothpick (in honour of my paper bead class) and a metal flower from a vintage bracelet. Other than that, there's nothing weird or unusual in this piece. Stitches involved are back, peyote, netting, stacked, flower, fringe and boucle/bocce/moss. My June piece is also finished, but I haven't taken the photographs yet. With a little luck, I'll post again in a couple of days.

It does look so very spring like and you are right those days are far behind us.... Very HOT here today, definitely feels more like yellow and orange!!!

Your beadwork is exquisite. I love that ruffled part especially. And the ceramic piece is gorgeous! Very springlike.

Beautiful, soft, gentle, reminds me of Spring, absolutely love those shades of pink and green together. Wonderful bead embroidery as usual.

Thanks, Beth, Sue and Kaite!!! I know that I was excited to make this one, but now I've moved on....the ceramic piece is nice, and I actually purchased a small collection of them, so you'll, be seeing more in the future! One day, I'd love to go to Tuscon for the bead shows!!!! What a spending opportunity!!!

These are the colours I'm currently working with too (only not beading). Pink isn't my favourite colour to work with so it's stretching my imagination.

Spectacular as usual. I am jealous of your talent.

So nice to see spring in the brown of July... thanks for your delay in posting! Never a need to be deep, sophisticated, symbolic... a nice, visual impression of spring is just as meaningful. I didn't find the plastic toothpick... you must have covered it well. LOVE the ruffle on this piece... makes it leafy, ties everything together, and balances the heavy cabochon. Bravo!

Thanks, Rachel, Mary Ann, MA, Judy and Robin! Rachel, of course I'll visit you if I ever make it down. I didn't realise that you were so close. Robin, I did such a good job at hiding the toothpick, that I have a hard time finding it in the photo, myself. I love the ruffle in this one too! MA, we all need to work outside our comfort zone, from time to time. It's called stretching! Judy, don't be jealous! You do things that I wouldn't even attempt. We just take our talents in different directions. That's what makes art so enchanting!
